Fighting Wolves

One day there was a Cherokee Indian that was telling his son that was passing on some wisdom to his son.  It was about the conflict, or battle that happens inside of us all. He describes a battle between two wolves within one’s self.  Finally, when the father finished the son asks him this important question, “which wolf wins?”  The father tells him, “which ever one you feed”.

Every single person alive has this very struggle inside.  It can be an emotional struggle of a hurtful past fighting against you looking forward to a victorious tomorrow.  But today I want to turn this fighting wolves to that of a spiritual nature.  Friend, if you are a person that has never accepted Christ as your Saviour, and the devil is feeding you lies that you are not good enough, or you are a good person and go to church, or you can handle life and don’t need Jesus.  Then you have a fight within you that only Jesus Christ can change.

“For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” (John 3:17-18)

Christian, how many times you battle with your old life before you got saved, and it is a struggle to truly live for the Lord Jesus Christ.  That is a fight between our flesh, and the spirit of God that lives within. We are told in Galatians 2:20,

“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

The Bible is so clear on how every person that ever walked this earth, can have complete victory in their life.  But the Cherokee Indian had the answer too.  The “fighting wolves” within us has to have a victor.  Which one it will be depends on “which ever one you feed”.  And if the battle is constant and you still can’t find any victory, then maybe you are feeding the wrong wolf.  My prayer is that God will show you the correct one.
