So you think you are a good person...by what standard?

     Does the Bible say you can know for sure you will spend eternity in Heaven when you die?  1 John 5:11-13 says " And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."  God has given us His Word, the Bible, so we can KNOW we have eternal life. Many people today are trying to do good works to please God. There are many religious people in our world today, but that does not mean they will all go to Heaven when they die. Let's see what the Bible says about eternal life:

Man's problem- SIN

Romans 3:10 " As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:"
Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"

The penalty for sin- DEATH

Romans 6:23a "For the wages of sin is death..."
Romans 5:12 "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:"

God's free gift to man- ETERNAL LIFE

Romans 6:23b "...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord"
Romans 5:8 "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Man must accept this gift by REPENTANCE and FAITH in Jesus Christ alone

Mark 1:15 "And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel."
Luke 13:3 "I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish."
Acts 16:31  "And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved"
Romans 5:1  "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:"
Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
