“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.” (Romans 3:10-11)
Why are there so many religions out there today? Especially when the Bible clearly says that there is only One God. There is a great need to worship in our DNA. It is in our makeup of how we are created. But many try to do what they think is right and come up with a “religion” to meet their idea of worship.
Look at our text again. It says, “none that seeketh after God.” You see, religion has people today seeking after a man’s idea, not God.
(Proverbs 14:12) “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”
As sinful man we are separated from God, and if separated then that means we are “not right with God.” You see, “righteousness”, in laymen’s terms means, “right with God”.
So how do we get right with God? We won’t find it in a religion. The answer is found in Bible. Jesus Christ came “to seek and to save” you! (Luke 19:10). When He comes to you, either through this devotion, a Biblical sermon, or the witness of another Christian, you need to accept His free gift of salvation so that you can finally be righteous, or “right with God”.
“For as by one man disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.” (Romans 5:19)
I said all of this because it hit me how that during the times of great persecution of Christians in times past, it was never over “religious people”, but rather people that were righteous, or “right with God”.
Just think on this, Religion has men being right with men. Righteousness has men being right with God. Which one do you want to be right with?
