“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Philippians 4:8
The other day I shared an illustration that I read, that was posted by a friend, and it had to do with “where did evil come from?” It is obvious that our world is getting more wicked and evil, but why?
It is simple, it has to do with “Absence”. Think about it. The absence of light is darkness. The absence of goodness is wickedness. And the absence of God is evil.
Look at our world today, in that it has taken God out of almost everything. The schools, the courts, the home, and believe it or not but even some churches. No wonder it is such a mess, and it will not get better unless we place God back in everything.
Where did this all begin? It’s simple.
“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…” Proverbs 23:7a
Our thought life can lead to good things, or to evil things. It all depends on if we allow God to control our thought life. The absence of God will always bring evil.
The text here shows us what we need to do every single day. And don’t let our thoughts be absent of God, but rather be filled with God. In the very next verse it tells us that when our thought life is under God’s control, then…(v. 9b) “the God of peace shall be with you.”
Ask yourself then, “Is your life one of evil thoughts, deeds, and ambitions?” If so, then were is God? Is there no peace in your life, then listen Christ in,
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Mathew 11:28
Don’t let your life, and your thought life be a display of God’s absence. Make the change today!
